Mareike Lienau

Mareike Lienau fuses with Lyk Carpet Objects an avant-garde design approach with traditional craftsmanship. The question „What is contemporary about craft?“ is fundamental to her design process, explains the industrial design graduate, who studied product and process design at the Berlin University of the Arts. „There is a vision, a passion, values that influence my design process. It is from this conglomerate that emerge the objects. I want my objects to bring consciousness – to add value, to encourage them to think about global responsibility, fair trade and socio-ecological aspects – not only because I care about respect for the people who produce these objects and consideration for the nature that provides the raw materials, but because the "story behind the object" emotionally connects us as humans.
